Fame Baphomet battery
Last week playing the Baphomet the signal just went. From a heavily distorted sound to a distant scream. I had the bass plugged in the Ashdown ABM 500 Evo II.
First thought: Oh god, it's true what they say about Ashdown. Even when mine is UK made, it might have been influenced by all negative rumours since production moved to China or Korea or wherever people don't really remember the Iron Lady. Maybe my Ashdown is sensitive for these reports and not weaponed to what people say in the press, on forums or in stores.
So master and gain went to Zero, and up again. Unplugged the bass and plugged it in again. Everything fine. Back to some sweet R&R. And the signal went distorted again. Off button. On button. Signal. 3 minutes and off signal.
New cable then, and directly from bass to amp, because the MXR Super comp might have been the issue. Not! No signal. Took the other bass out, plugged it in and yes, all good. Full sound, no distortion. So what could it be? Of course, the battery. Pulled the active/ passive switch but hey, a Fame don't play when put passive on a dead battery.
So I changed the battery, 1 minute fix and plugged the Fame back in. And oh boy, wall of sound, yes. So sorry sweet Ashdown, you still rock. It was me not changing batteries in time, still it's strange how you can get a sound that is still there but seems directly related to the last juices being pulled out of the battery.
